Michael Hutchence foi o vocalista da banda de rock-pop chamada INXS. Foi encontrado morto em um hotel na Austrália no dia 22 de novembro de 1997. A versão oficial diz que ele se enforcou com um cinto. Exames detalhados feitos posteriormente contrariam essa hipótese: acredita-se que tenha havido uma tentativa asfixiofilia. Montou sua banda em 1977, em Sydney, Austrália, junto com Andrew Farriss, Tim Farriss, Garry Beers e Kirk Pengilly, chamada originalmente de The Farriss Brothers.
